Alarm groups corrupted - blank entries in list I was able to clean up the GROUP.DEF file by doing the following:
* Print the GROUP.DEF file from the app. Note, there were entries with blank alarm group name (e.g. Group Name: ;0040).
* Run dbdump on the application.
* Open the csv in Excel, format for best fit. Delete the alarm group entries that had blank alarmgroup name.
* Save as CSV, close Excel without saving.
* Dbload the modified CSV to new IT app.
* Open WM in the new app, update use counts, close the app (not sure if this step was necessary).
* Edit the resulting GROUP.DEF - modify the handles to match the ones from the cust app (e.g. Group Name: ALM_SD_STATUS;0F70 - handle is 0F70).
* Replace the GROUP.DEF in the customer app with the modified GROUP.DEF It may be a better idea to have your customer rebuild the app to clean up any other problems that may be present in the existing app. This procedure is described in the KBCD - search for "fdrdkey".
Note, I had one log early last year where a customer got blank alarm group entries after deleting an alarm group, in an app converted from IT5.6 to 6.0. I was unable to reproduce this behavior. -------------------------
--- As an addendum - Tech Note 112: "Recovering a Corrupted InTouch Application" is an updated / more detailed version of the "fdrdkey" KB article.
